Missouri Alcohol & Tobacco Control conducts compliance checks in St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve counties
Gene Lacy, State Supervisor for the Missouri Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control, announces that the Division conducted 10 alcohol compliance check investigations in St. Francois and Ste. Genevieve Counties on February 20, 2010.
The investigations resulted in charges against six individuals. Each was charged with sale of liquor to a minor. In addition, the retail locations were cited for sale of liquor to a minor and will face possible fines and/or suspension of their liquor licenses from the Division of Alcohol and Tobacco Control.
Those facing charges are:
Margaret Mary Becker – Casey’s General Store #1149, 84 S. Henry Street, Farmington, MO Roberta Vandergast- Cheap Smokes Farmington, 736 Weber Road, Farmington, MO Sarah N. Stokes – C Barn, 154 Parkway Drive, Park Hills, MO Jessica Kathleen Barton- Hoosier Daddys Liquor and More, 812 East Chestnut, Desloge, MO Tera Nichole White – Liberty Fuel, 416 Benham Street, Bonne Terre, MO Larry Charles Massey – Goose Creek Market N Pub, 6161 Office Road, French Village, MO
Supervisor Lacy pointed out that the following four retail locations did not sell to the undercover minor: Park Hills River Mart, 7 East Main Street, Park Hills, MO; Khurshid Petroleum, 17096 New Bremen Road, Ste. Genevieve, MO; Barney’s Gas & Mini Mart, Hwy 67 N (old), Bonne Terre, MO; and Discount Cigs & Beer, 905 E. Karsh, Farmington, MO.
Supervisor Lacy pointed out that these establishments and their employees are the first line of defense in the battle against underage drinking. He praised them for their continued efforts to make Missouri a safer and healthier place for our youth.
The investigations were supported by funding made available through a grant administered by the Highway Safety Division, Missouri Department of Transportation, and by funding made available through a Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act Grant Program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice and the Missouri Department of Public Safety, Office of the Director, and the Juvenile Justice Advisory Group.”

In each case in which a charge was filed it should be noted that the charge is merely an accusation and that the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
